SHAMANIC THERAPY:
INFORMED CONSENT FORM

This informed consent form provides essential information about shamanic therapy, including its nature, process, and your rights as a participant. Please read this document carefully and ask any questions you may have before starting your sessions.

PURPOSE OF SHAMANIC THERAPY

Shamanic therapy is designed to support your healing and personal growth through spiritual and nature-based practices. The approach helps you connect with your inner self, ancestors, and the natural world, aiming to find balance and harmony in your life. This therapy integrates ancient healing traditions with modern psychological understanding, providing a holistic experience that addresses emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being.

NATURE OF SHAMANIC THERAPY

Shamanic therapy is a holistic approach that involves engaging with the spiritual and natural worlds. As a practitioner, I employ various methods to connect with spiritual energies and channel them into the healing process. This therapy includes practices such as:

Process Work: This includes shadow work, demon processes, and radical acceptance, focusing on integrating all aspects of the self. Shadow work helps you confront and embrace the parts of yourself that are often hidden or repressed, while demon processes assist in transforming negative energies or emotions into positive forces. Radical acceptance fosters a compassionate acceptance of all parts of your being, promoting profound healing and growth.

Working with Sexual Energy and Sexuality: This practice focuses on understanding and working with sexual energy to move beyond fear and feelings of being stuck. It involves exploring your relationship with sexuality, addressing any barriers or discomforts, and fostering a healthier connection with your sexual self. This process aims to help you access and experience greater levels of pleasure and intimacy in a safe and supported environment.

Rituals and Ceremonies: These are integral to shamanic practice, providing a framework for transformation and healing. Rituals may include the use of sacred objects, symbols, and incantations to invoke ancestral guidance.

Guided Visualisations and Meditations: These techniques help deepen your connection with your inner self and the spiritual realm, promoting clarity and self-awareness.

Energy Work: This involves techniques to balance and restore your energy flow, addressing blockages that may manifest as emotional or physical symptoms.

Sound and Breathing Processes: These are used to enhance your equilibrium, engage the autonomic nervous system, release tension, meditate, and facilitate deeper spiritual connectedness.

These practices aim to foster healing, self-discovery, and spiritual growth. Shamanic therapy is an alternative healing approach that can complement medical treatment. While I have studied and trained as a psychologist, I am not a licensed psychologist. My approach integrates body-based and Indigenous methods with ethical standards and psychological constructs to support your journey.

PHILOSOPHY AND APPROACH

Shamanic therapy is rooted in the belief that all aspects of life are interconnected. Healing is seen as a holistic process that encompasses spiritual, emotional, and physical dimensions. The therapy aims to help you achieve a balanced state by addressing all facets of your being. My practice is guided by a framework that honours your spiritual journey, emotional health, and physical well-being. This approach promotes a comprehensive understanding of your needs and facilitates a harmonious integration of body, mind, and spirit.

INTEGRATION OF ETHICS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSTRUCTS

While shamanic therapy is deeply rooted in traditional and Indigenous practices, it is complemented by modern ethical standards and psychological principles. This integration ensures that the therapy is conducted with respect for your autonomy, confidentiality, and personal boundaries. The practices are designed to support your psychological well-being, incorporating constructs such as emotional regulation, trauma-informed care, and personal empowerment.
